Finders, Keepers Chairs

Hi Friends!

It's that time of year again.
Spring has sprung and spring house cleaning has begun!
I  love when I clean my house and everything seems newly shabbified again don't you?
But,
I really love when others clean their house more. Here's why....

BEFORE
When some people clean their house they throw things out!!
 Good stuff!!

I know, I can hardly believe it myself!

So....when my Handsome Hubby and I were driving home one evening and after nearly drawing blood from my husbands arm when I grabbed him and yelled "STOP!" ,we found two of these beauties!

(Let me also tell you we did not have the big, roomy van. We were driving HH's sporty (i.e. small) sedan
and also found a bike with new tires just before this and our Sharp Son was in the back seat too! )
HH carefully loaded our treasures in our car and we drove slowly back home.
He now carries bungee cords in his trunk in case we find other treats, how sweet is that!

The chairs were covered in paint drops and the seat covers looked like they were sat on by every child in our neighborhood who just finished playing in the dirt.......
twice.
I knew how pretty these would look after I got a hold of them and gave them a make-over!
So, I washed, unscrewed, sanded , washed again, painted, sanded again and gave them new fabric and....

AFTER
I had to explain to our sweet neighbors from China,
when I perfectly painted these curb side chairs outside
and then began sanding off the paint to give them a worn, used, lived in finish.
They received their first lesson in "shabby chic" 101!
I knew the chairs would be perfect for extra seating but,
also they are perfect with another recycled find from and estate sale.
This beautiful, old, drop leaf table in our craft room, needed the company of two chairs.
How lucky was I to find 2 of them!!

Now my Darling Daughter and I can craft away,
together.

Thanks for stopping by, come back soon!

  1. WOW, you were really having a lucky day when you came across those chairs. I'm sure a lot of folks passed them by thinking "heck no"..
What some elbow grease and paint can't do?
    They are perfect!
    Have a happy week ahead!

  2. How come I never find great stuff along the streets? All we find around here are glass and brass tables, sans glass and ripped up old sofas. These chairs turned out great. They look perfect with the postcard pillow as well.
