When you Wish Upon A Star

Hello Friends!
It's been awhile and I apologize. School is winding down quickly...more like lightning speed! Our Smart Son is graduating 8th grade ;oops they now call it "movin' on"?! and our Darling Daughter is finishing 3rd grade. Our gifts from God are 5 years apart and even though at times it might be easier if they were closer in age, I just think it's giving us more time to remember the children's stages and enjoy special moments in their lives a little longer rather then blending all together.
It's also that time of year that we pull the kids out of school for a family vacation. I can't say this has made us a role model family for the schools but, we like to go when everyone doesn't!

Most of all, we love the memories that only the four of us share. Funny times, silly things, amazing moments that I would trade for all the money in the world!

Have you guessed where we went yet? The title of this blog really gave it away.

Magical Memories!

Tell me, do any of you sneak some time in to get away from it all?

I may be grown up but, inside
I'm still a kid!!
Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!

Good, Goodwill Dishes

Hi Friends!
Lot's of projects I want to get into
 but,
my time has been divided in too many places.
Sound familiar?

Thought I'd start something today but, first the Goodwill store was calling my name.
So off I went.
I even got a kick out of their bags;
 Goodwill-Amazing.
Did you know that shopping at Goodwill helps people earn a living, improves their lives and
 strengthens families and your community.
It can be an amazing store.
Want to see what I found?
These cute, old Taylor Smith Taylor dishes from 1940.
I really love the colors red, blue and yellow on a creamy background.

I found 6 dinner plates,6 bread plates, 6 bowls, veggie bowl w/ under plate,
gravy boat and small under plate and a sugar bowl and lid.
Not one chip can you believe it? After 70 years!

All for a grand total of $20.
Not bad.
And when I was leaving the sweet girl said "thank you for supporting our mission."
So, not only do I feel good about what I purchased,
I feel good for possibly helping someone else too!
Dinner will be extra yummy on these Good, Goodwill dishes tonight.
Thanks for stopping by!
See you next time!

Blue Bird Painting

Hi Friends!
We are always looking .
Even when we don't know we're looking, We are looking.
You know......
for that cute little something you just have to have
because it's calling your name and better yet,
it's only a dollar!

So, my Darling Daughter and I were in the dollar store,
looking for a small pencil sharpener she can bring to school,
when I spotted a cute little painted bird stretched on a wooden frame.

I immediately picked him up to take home with me!
Hey, this is where Yellow Bird came from too!
Maybe I have a thing for cute little birds?

So, he found his home on our mantel.

He seems to like it.

Isn't he cute?!
What do you think?     Would you take him home?
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a HAPPY week everyone and come back soon!

Finders, Keepers Chairs

Hi Friends!

It's that time of year again.
Spring has sprung and spring house cleaning has begun!
I  love when I clean my house and everything seems newly shabbified again don't you?
But,
I really love when others clean their house more. Here's why....

BEFORE
When some people clean their house they throw things out!!
 Good stuff!!

I know, I can hardly believe it myself!

So....when my Handsome Hubby and I were driving home one evening and after nearly drawing blood from my husbands arm when I grabbed him and yelled "STOP!" ,we found two of these beauties!

(Let me also tell you we did not have the big, roomy van. We were driving HH's sporty (i.e. small) sedan
and also found a bike with new tires just before this and our Sharp Son was in the back seat too! )
HH carefully loaded our treasures in our car and we drove slowly back home.
He now carries bungee cords in his trunk in case we find other treats, how sweet is that!

The chairs were covered in paint drops and the seat covers looked like they were sat on by every child in our neighborhood who just finished playing in the dirt.......
twice.
I knew how pretty these would look after I got a hold of them and gave them a make-over!
So, I washed, unscrewed, sanded , washed again, painted, sanded again and gave them new fabric and....

AFTER
I had to explain to our sweet neighbors from China,
when I perfectly painted these curb side chairs outside
and then began sanding off the paint to give them a worn, used, lived in finish.
They received their first lesson in "shabby chic" 101!
I knew the chairs would be perfect for extra seating but,
also they are perfect with another recycled find from and estate sale.
This beautiful, old, drop leaf table in our craft room, needed the company of two chairs.
How lucky was I to find 2 of them!!

Now my Darling Daughter and I can craft away,
together.

Thanks for stopping by, come back soon!

Vintage Easter Chick& Lamb

   Hello friends!

Hopping by with my Vintage Easter Chick.

She looks so proud of her job holding glittered eggs!

This little chick was my Grandma's

and one Easter, my Big Sis brought it to me filled with beautiful tulips as a surprise!

I wonder what she'll bring me this year?
and.......

I also wonder,
how did she get it in the first place???!!!

Here is another Vintage Easter Treasure.....

It's a cute little dreamy, creamy white lamb.

And she's helping me show off some fabric flower pins I am creating.

This little lamb came from an estate sale.

It must have been Little Bo-Peeps because she was so lost.

I found her in a dark basement, high on a shelf!

(because that's where you find all the good stuff!)

Happy Easter!

Thanks to Joan at Anything Goes Here for the great Vintage Easter Party!!!

Yellow Bird

Spring is finally Springing!

I know it won't stay like this , at least not where we live in Illinois
but, it sure is nice to feel the sun and warmer (50's) breeze.

Snow is gone!

You can see the tiny sprouts of life erupt again from the softening ground.

The Winter cold and snow silences the sounds of earth .
The warming Spring awakens those sounds and everything is alive again!

What I really enjoy now is the sound of the singing birds in the morning.

I haven't been able to catch a bird with my camera,
(still hoping to find the pot of gold a forgetful Leprechaun left to get a new one!)

So,

here is the next best thing!

My Yellow Bird.

He is my Dollar Store find!

I love his rustic, yellow color and he is already "shabbied up!"
He flew to me in the store and came home with me,
well, for a dollar and tax of course.
Now,

Yellow Bird is trying to find his space in his new home.

He did like the kitchen counter stool but, I told him one of the kids might sit on him.
So, he quickly flew to the........

Family Room and landed on the mantel.
Yellow bird tried talking to Chocolate Bunny but, couldn't hear him under the glass cloche.
So, he flew to......

the Easter Tree!
But, Yellow Bird was just a little too chubby for the delicate branches.
So, he left and flew over to......
the cake pedestals.
They were too hard and slippery for the little fellow so, he got down and quickly flew to....

the hallway.
Nothing too exciting here (he said to me).
Off again......

 "No Way" I told him.
"You don't belong with chickens and you will get vacuumed up" .
See, now I'm talking back to this little bird!

Yellow bird flew past my head over to....

a kitchen shelf.
Yellow bird felt safe up high but was so tired from all that flying that he decided to
fly over to........

the hall bench and take a little nap.
Ahhhh sounds good......

But, can't because..... the dishwasher repair man is coming, dishes to wash(since I can't put them in the dishwasher!), there is laundry to do (always!),a trip to the post office, grocery shopping, pick up the kids from school, after school activities, make something semi-nutritious for dinner, homework, hear about everyones day and make sure hugs and kisses are evenly distributed, shower & bath time, bedtime story and OK
 now
I can take my nap!

Renewed

The Lord is with me;

I will not be afraid.

What can man do to me?

Psalm 118:6

Have you ever had toxic people in your life?
You know, people who find contentment to when you are down?
Well, I am removing them from my life.
I am going to surround myself with as many positive people as I can!
I will start my online business (very soon) and create and be happy!
I am so honored to have found such beautiful "blog friends" just since I started last month.
Creative, interesting, fun and oh so talented.
Thanks for your unconditional support and kind words!
And, look ahead to wonderful things to come!
